On July 8, 2024, Kitty Adams Hoksbergen, Executive Director at Adopt A Charger, announced the nonprofit installed new electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at the Maritime Museum in Madisonville, Louisiana. On her LinkedIn page, Hoksbergen said Cleco and Northshore Community Foundation sponsored the location.

EVinfo.net spoke with Hoksbergen about the tremendous achievement, bringing more EV charging to Louisiana.

“When people spot an EV driving down the road, they don’t automatically notice that the vehicle runs on electricity. The aha moment happens when they see the car plugged in at places they like to go, and get to ask questions of the driver about their experience.” says Kitty Adams, Executive Director of Adopt a Charger, “I am grateful to the Northshore Community Foundation and Cleco for supporting Adopt a Charger’s efforts to expand charging in the St. Tammany Parish. The charging stations at the Maritime Museum in Madisonville will enable EV tourism, and offer area residents another spot to charge their vehicles.”
