Yellow Springs, Ohio, August 4, 2026 — Adopt a Charger announced the installation of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (EVCS) at Glen Helen Nature Preserve, made possible in part by a $25,000 contribution from Honda. The installation of these charging stations supports Glen Helen’s ecological stewardship mission and is part of their Environmental Education initiative. The Dayton, Ohio area is an underserved area for EV charging, and there are currently very few charging stations available to the public, these EVCS will help enable zero-emission travel in the region.
Said Glen Helen Association Executive Director Nick Boutis, “Thanks to this generous grant, visitors will be able to charge their electric vehicles while they explore Glen Helen trails, stop by our Raptor Center, or join one of our public programs.” Boutis noted, “As a courtesy to our visitors and a benefit to Glen Helen Association members, the chargers are complimentary to use. We welcome donations to help cover our costs.” Chargers are available at two sites in Glen Helen, the Steps Lot (405 Corry St.) and the Cascades Lot (1075 OH-343).
Honda is focused on reducing carbon emissions, utilizing clean energy, conserving resources, and helping nature thrive as part of its commitment to creating a better world for future generations. Through its Environment pillar, Honda supports programs that align with its mission to reduce environmental impact.
Tesla Motors donated (8) Universal Connector charging stations and pedestals for the project. The EVCS features both the North American Charging Standard (NACS), which the industry is migrating towards, and the J-1772 connector to serve legacy non-Tesla vehicles. Each station is capable of adding ~25 miles of range per hour.
